South Bend Man Financed St. Patrick's Celebration with Fake Bills

Police officers discovered the counterfeit bills shortly after midnight, when an officer parked near the Riverside Tavern witnessed a man being chased by the bar's staff. The officer caught up with the 27-year old Chris Orozco only after he tripped on a curb. Next to him was found a wad of counterfeit banknotes, containing 17 100-dollar bills, and 2 20-dollar bills. The suspect ran out of the bar after trying to pay a $140 bill with fake bills. In total, $1900 in fake banknotes was found. Orozco was charged with 3 Class- C Felonies, one Class-D felony for forgery, and a class-A felony for resisting the law officer. The bail was set at $4000.
